William

This painting has been a long time in the making, with William sitting regularly, a couple of times a month, for the past year, and all the time wishing he could get a haircut…

I think we are nearing the end of the process and I am wishing I had made better job of documenting the portrait at the end of each sitting, as the character of the portrait has changed over the months and I still am not sure where it is going to end up. 

William sat for this painting, as with all of my portraits, in my studio in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne. Waygood Gallery and Studios is an artist led gallery and studios. The work is oil on canvas.

Tony

Tony models every now and then on a Saturday or Thursday for a life drawing class I run. Most of the models who sit regularly for me for my will end up having their portrait painted and I hope to start painting Tony over the winter while waiting to move into a new and heated studio in Waygood’s redeveloped site on High Bridge in Newcastle city centre.
This drawing is graphite on a waterleaf printing paper made by Fabriano, which particularly suits the way I draw. It is imperial in size. I will work to commission if you prefer a drawing rather than and oil on canvas.
 

 

Emma

Emma has been sitting for this portrait for a couple of years now, but only managing a total of six visits in total between her other commitments. I expect the painting to be finished after the next two sessions and the commission complete early next year.

The painting is oil on canvas and is 50 by 80 cm approx. The images below are slightly cropped.
